NODA has the ability to create state-of-the-art maps using its GIS, GPS (which allows for more precise mapping and location of water lines, sewer lines, etc.) and municipal facilities. Computer programs such as ArcView and AutoCAD enable NODA to produce multi-layered thematic maps as well as integrate cartographical and tabular data for GIS analysis and database management.
Capital Improvements Program, the study of potential business development and the analysis of land use patterns are a few fields of community planning and economic development where Geographic Information Systems (GIS) are being applied.
In recent years, NODA has been constructing and plotting maps in different sizes using hi-tech mapping software and plotters. NODA has also taken the initiative in acquiring community plat maps in digital forma in order to provide better services throughout the sub-state planning district. Digital Orthophotoquad (aerial photos) are also imported and used as a base for overlays that show the locations of streets, water and sewer lines, etc.
